The Balkan Football League kicked off this past Sunday with the Sarajevo Spartans hosting the Zagreb Patriots.
Conditions were cold and snowy and lead to a difficult game for both teams. The Spartans came out quickly and scored against the Patriots with a touchdown on the first drive. However, the Patriots quickly answered with a touchdown of their own.
From that point on they did not give up the lead. Zagreb scored three more touchdowns for the day while the Spartans were unable to score again. The final score was 27 to 6.
Scorers for Zagreb were Borna Goljevšćek twice, while Mark Turković and Nikola Zajec scored a touchdown each. Domagoj Matanić added 2 extra points.
The only scorer for Spartans was Amar Brkan.
